Faithful Dog

Have you ever wanted a pet that follows you wherever you go in World of Warcraft? I’m not talking hunter pets or companion pets you can summon whenever you want. At least, not yet.

Mists of Pandaria

Our beloved Dog NPC first appeared in Mists of Pandaria after you completed the Lost and Lonely quest in the Valley of the Four Winds. You must reach 12,600 (60%) into revered with The Tillers to see the quest pop up between some boulders in the Heartland area of 42, 49. Once you feed the Lost Dog 20x Tasty T-Bone steaks, he responds:

Woof!
The dog wags its tail happily. It heads towards your farm.

The next time you visit your farm, he will either be sitting by the post next to your hut, digging under the hut or pottering around the phased area of your farm. I’m a little disappointed he doesn’t help us with our crops but it’s cool to have a companion that follows us through each expansion. I’d love it if we could rename the dog once we’ve saved him in Pandaria.

To see if you’ve completed the quest you can paste the following in chat:

He responds to several emotes including:

/love – Your dog loves you too!
/pet – Your dog pushes its head under your hand.
/kiss or /blow – Your dog gives you a sloppy wet lick.
/bark – “Woof!”

Warlords of Draenor

Dog appears in your garrison once you unlock the herb garden assuming you’ve completed the above quest.

Legion

Look for a tiny Pebble in the streets of Dalaran. Teleport to your garrison and head to the herb garden. Show Dog the pebble. He will now appear next to Breanni in the Magical Menagerie. (see video)

Note: If you boosted your toon and are missing Dog in your garrison, try sending the pebble to a toon with the dog unlocked in Draenor.
