There are 14 pets to collect from the Feast of Winter Veil. One pet may come from the Winter Veil Gift under Greatfather Winter’s tree near the Smokywood Pastures vendor area in Orgrimmar and Ironforge. Six presents can be opened on Christmas Day (or Boxing Day in other parts of the world like Australia) from December 25 to January 2 (or the 3rd).
This year, hunters are in for a treat since they can tame a couple of time-limited Dreaming Festive Reindeer pets with and without a red nose.
Gently Shaken Gift
The Gently Shaken Gift is one of the more interesting gifts under the Winter Veil tree.
- Winter Veil Cracker toy (added in 2024)
Winter Veil Gift
These pets are unique and not cageable.
- Portentous Present pet and Box of Puntables toy (added in 2024)
Previous owners of the crate have reported the disappearance of other pets from their collection. - Jingles (2020) has two models – a basic one and this festive-looking version wearing a Christmas wreath and holding a candy cane. You may see either version on summon.
These dazzling hatchlings have a distinctive coat color that has been highly sought after by leatherworkers for generations.
You’re a Mean One… is a daily quest that requires you to save Metzen the Reindeer and recover some stolen treats after defeating The Abominable Greench.
Head to the Growless Cave in the Alterac Mountains (south of the Ruins of Alterac) to find the Greench standing guard outside. (see video)
The quest rewards a Stolen Present with a small chance to contain the following pets:
- Grunch (added in 2024) It’s best not to ask how Grunch acquired all these gifts because you know it’s not because he’s been nice.
- Lumpy – A stowaway from Greatfather Winter’s workshop, this tiny elemental found himself trapped in a present that was stolen by the Abominable Greench.
- Clockwork Rocket Bot – This mechanical warrior is a favorite gift during Winter Veil. Batteries not included, but rockets definitely are!
- Rotten Little Helper (see below) Fed up with long hours, low pay, and entitled adventurers whining about sub-standard Winter Veil gifts, these nasty little creatures fled their magical workshops to join up with the Abominable Greench.
- Blue Clockwork Rocket Bot – can also be bought for 50G from toy world vendors. Jepetto’s top-selling toy this season, the bot’s new blue chassis has children across Azeroth scrambling for this feisty battle bot.
The Gaily Wrapped Present found under the tree has a chance to contain:
-
Winter’s Little Helper – During the majestic Winter Veil celebration, these faithful companions spread joy throughout the land. The rest of the year, they are busy.
-
Winter Reindeer – Would rather not spend any more time inside a wrapped holiday gift box.
-
Tiny Snowman – He loves to dance and wave and play with you! He melts after Winter Veil, but don’t worry; he’ll be back again someday!
-
Father Winter’s Helper – These off-season allies work tirelessly to prepare for the Feast of Winter Veil, and would appreciate not being disturbed the rest of the year.
Grumpling can be looted from the snow mounds around Daggermaw Ravine (45, 27) in Frostfire Ridge, Draenor. Winter Veil dailies can be picked up from Pizzle (Horde) or Almie (Alliance) inside your garrison.
Grumplings are created when the tears of a kidnapped child fall upon a mound of new snow.
The Globe Yeti spawns inside the Snow Globes of your capital cities. Just don’t kill him accidentally.
Who makes them? How do they get there? No one knows, except maybe Greatfather Winter.
I got my Rotten Helper from the Stolen Present on my second try of the first day – I thought it might have been a bug, too, because I’ve not seen anyone else with it and as you’ve said, the official announcement didn’t say anything about the daily, but perhaps it’s intentional ^^ he’s a funny little guy, isn’t he!
Oh nice! I see he gets grumpier when you keep clicking on him.
Grats! I’ve seen many shouts of joy in chat about that Rotten Little Helper but no luck yet for me.
The hard part is getting to the quest giver as it seems sitting on him with the largest mount possible is the way people are spreading holiday “cheer” right now, lol.
Where’s some baby spice when you need it? Best of luck with the pet.
As someone who’s never done winter veil anything before, this leaves a lot of info out. “Found under the tree” …What tree? Where are these mounds in frostfire ridge? You always need a guide for the guide if it was made by a WoW player. Thanks for a good starting point I guess
