Withered Army Training

The Collapse scenario is something I look forward to every few days, although it was a struggle collecting enough mana to send 20 withered into the tunnels at first. Thankfully, once I’d paid all my dues with all the Nigthfallen NPCs, it was a lot easier to max out on mana every couple of days.

I was determined to finish the Withered Training scenario before my Nightfallen rep was done and am just a few thousand off right now. As you’d expect, there were a few bottlenecks along the way like the first time I encountered Dro.

At first, I thought it was bad luck to encounter him just as I entered the ruins but later learned his patrol does include the start of the second map. He managed to sneak up on me TWICE in this same spot but the third time I was ready and gave him everything I had. He died. Woot!

Once I was able to kill Dro, my next bottleneck came from the Elfbreaker’s room and was teleported after an unfortunate stun.

Then came the psycho spiders which whittled me down rather quickly as I ran up that first set of stairs. Unfortunately, some withered were throwing rocks at the bottom of the stairs so, of course, the Elfbreaker joined in.

This did not bode well.

Frankly, I was just pleased to get that far because it meant I was that much closer to the end.

Today, I was itching to get back in there because I wanted to see what was setting off the spiders. I knew there had to be a way to complete it as Disc so I just needed to save my Thalyssra bubble for the thing setting off the spiders. It was a little messy but it worked.

The last couple of times, I left all the chests because I wanted to see how far I could get without losing most of my army. This time, I was able to teleport two Glimmering and two Treasure Chests. This left 3 withered so I backtracked to see if there were another 2 I could pick up in one of the other rooms. Sadly, no.

Now to see what goodies I picked up.

I was excited to see the pet in one of the smaller chests, as well as a toy and item giving me my second Berserker.

There are eight toys to collect (including the two I’ve collected so far). There’s also a small chance to get a Torn Invitation which is the quest to obtain the Reins of the Llothien Prowler. Apparently, the invitation can come from either type of treasure chest below so if you’ve looted one, please confirm.

After picking up my second Berserker, I’ll be able to unlock that last remaining room. I look forward to seeing how many of the other toys, etc. I can collect before reaching 999 Exalted and see the maximum number of Withered I can pick up.
